Elements and Principles

Description - This activity was a scavenger hunt. I had to go around and find all of the elements and principles in art. The pictures could be taken anywhere and were supposed to represent one of the elements or principles. After I took all of my pictures, I put them into a presentation for 3rd to 5th grade students. In the presentation, I included my picture with an age-appropriate definition of that element or principle. The top left picture is a picture that represents contrast. It shows the contrast between the light coming in through the window and the darkness of the rest of the room. The top right picture represents unity. It uses many shapes and shades of blue in order to create unity. The middle picture represents shapes. It shows how shapes can be organic or geometric through the use of triangles and nontraditional shapes. The bottom left picture represents space.
